Synopsis Pasifika Occasional Paper Series, Vol. 2; No. 1, 2011

Intimate Partner violence is a significant public health issue in Aotearoa. A particular sub-group over represented as victims and offenders of violent crimes, is Pacific Peoples. Recent studies indicate that both Pacific men and women perpetrate violence towards each other. This study aimed to investigate ways to improving violence support services for Pacific peoples to healp address this issue.

Studies have identified that Pacific peoples affected by intimate partner violence turn to their families and communities for support; however, failing this, they seek help externally from violence support agencies.
